Charminar Morning Photo Walk

What it is:

A morning walk in the shadow of the Charminar, Hyderabad's iconic symbol. For more than four centuries, the Charminar has kept watch over the changing fortunes of one of the world's most fabled cities, and the lanes and bylanes surrounding it have witnessed much history and intrigue. We will spend a couple of hours walking around the streets surrounding the Charminar, listening to stories and exploring the old city as it wakes up and goes about its morning business. This is an excellent opportunity to indulge in some typically Hyderabadi street food, and some spectacular street photography.

What you will see and shoot:

People: The denizens of the ancient city going about their mornings, as they have been doing for centuries. Their characteristic attire, as well as the atmospheric surroundings.

Architecture: Old city buildings, a mix of ancient, old and new, including the Charminar, the Mecca Masjid and the Unani Hospital. If we are lucky, we will turn into a bylane containing some really old residential and religious buildings.

Food: The characteristic street-side food of Hyderabad includes irani chai with tie biscuits, and the almost ubiquitous breakfast dosa carts. Both also make for very interesting pictures. If we are lucky, we might even chance upon an old bakery preparing the traditional Hyderabadi breakfast of nihari and sheermal!

And of course, the not-so-ancient but oh-so-interesting mitti-ka-sher!
